Introduction

At Neuro Arts WA, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect in all our interactions. This Code of Conduct outlines the principles and expectations for all staff, volunteers, and clients to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment. It also incorporates the NDIS Code of Conduct to ensure compliance with national standards.

Principles

  1. Respect: Treat all individuals with dignity, courtesy, and respect, valuing their rights, beliefs, and opinions.

  2. Integrity: Act honestly and ethically in all interactions and decisions, maintaining transparency and accountability.

  3. Confidentiality: Protect the privacy and confidentiality of all personal information and sensitive matters.

  4. Professionalism: Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of work, including appearance, communication, and behavior.

  5. Inclusivity: Promote an inclusive environment that values diversity and ensures equal opportunities for all.

Expectations

For Staff and Volunteers

  • Adhere to Policies: Comply with all Neuro Arts WA policies, procedures, and relevant legal requirements.

  • Provide Quality Service: Deliver services competently, responsibly, and with a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Maintain Boundaries: Establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and colleagues.

  • Report Concerns: Promptly report any concerns, incidents, or breaches of this Code of Conduct to the appropriate authority.

  • Engage in Training: Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.

For Clients

  • Engage Respectfully: Interact with staff, volunteers, and other clients in a respectful and courteous manner.

  • Communicate Openly: Share relevant information and feedback to facilitate effective support and service delivery.

  • Respect Boundaries: Acknowledge and respect the professional boundaries set by staff and volunteers.

  • Follow Policies: Adhere to Neuro Arts WA policies and guidelines, including those related to safety and confidentiality.

NDIS Code of Conduct

All staff, volunteers, and service providers at Neuro Arts WA are expected to adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct, which requires:

  1. Acting with Respect for Individual Rights to Freedom of Expression, Self-Determination, and Decision-Making: Respecting the autonomy and choices of NDIS participants.

  2. Respecting the Privacy of People with Disability: Ensuring confidentiality and privacy are maintained.

  3. Providing Supports and Services in a Safe and Competent Manner with Care and Skill: Delivering high-quality and safe services.

  4. Acting with Integrity, Honesty, and Transparency: Upholding ethical behaviour and honesty in all interactions.

  5. Promptly Taking Steps to Raise and Act on Concerns about Matters that May Impact the Quality and Safety of Supports and Services Provided to People with Disability: Reporting and addressing concerns or risks.

  6. Taking All Reasonable Steps to Prevent and Respond to All Forms of Violence, Exploitation, Neglect, and Abuse: Protecting participants from harm.

  7. Taking All Reasonable Steps to Prevent Sexual Misconduct: Ensuring a safe environment free from sexual misconduct.

Unacceptable Conduct

  • Discrimination: Any form of discrimination, harassment, or bullying based on race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or any other characteristic.

  • Abuse: Any form of physical, emotional, sexual, or psychological abuse.

  • Dishonesty: Engaging in fraudulent or deceptive behaviour.

  • Breach of Confidentiality: Unauthorised disclosure of personal or sensitive information.

  • Conflict of Interest: Engaging in activities or relationships that could compromise professional integrity or objectivity.

Reporting and Addressing Breaches

  • Reporting: Any breaches of this Code of Conduct should be reported to a designated staff member or through the appropriate reporting channels.

  • Investigation: All reports will be investigated promptly, fairly, and confidentially.

  • Consequences: Appropriate actions will be taken against individuals found to have breached this Code of Conduct, which may include disciplinary action, termination of services, or legal measures.

Review and Monitoring

This Code of Conduct will be regularly reviewed and updated to ensure its relevance and effectiveness. Feedback from staff, volunteers, and clients will be considered in the review process.
