Introduction

Definitions
Abuse: Any action that intentionally harms or injures another person. This can include physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological harm.
Inappropriate Behaviour: Actions or conduct that are disrespectful, threatening, or harmful to others, including but not limited to harassment, bullying, and violence.
Zero Tolerance
Neuro Arts WA has a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse or inappropriate behaviour. All incidents will be taken seriously and addressed promptly and effectively.
Responsibilities
Staff and Volunteers
Adhere to this policy and all relevant codes of conduct.
Report any suspicions or incidents of abuse or inappropriate behaviour.
Participate in regular training on identifying and managing abuse and inappropriate behaviour.
Clients and Visitors
Treat all staff, volunteers, and other clients with respect and courtesy.
Report any concerns or incidents of abuse or inappropriate behaviour to staff.
Reporting and Response
Immediate Action: Any immediate danger or threat should be reported to the authorities (e.g., police) and appropriate emergency protocols should be followed.
Reporting: Incidents should be reported to a designated staff member or through the appropriate reporting channels.
Investigation: All reports will be thoroughly investigated in a confidential and respectful manner.
Support: Support will be provided to those affected by abuse or inappropriate behaviour, including access to counselling and other relevant services.
Consequences: Appropriate actions will be taken against individuals found to have committed abuse or inappropriate behavior, which may include termination of services, legal action, or other measures.
Prevention
Training: Regular training for staff and volunteers on preventing and responding to abuse and inappropriate behavior.
Environment: Creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Policies and Procedures: Implementing and regularly reviewing policies and procedures to safeguard against abuse and inappropriate behavior.
Confidentiality
All reports and investigations will be handled with the utmost confidentiality, respecting the privacy of all individuals involved.
Review and Monitoring
This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with best practices and legal requirements. Feedback from clients, staff, and other stakeholders will be considered in the review process.
